Painted my house the wrong color once. Looked amazing on the paint chip, looked like a bruise on the actual house. Exterior paint is expensive to fix. Choose carefully.
Why Benjamin Moore
Their exterior lines hold up. Aura and Regal Select specifically. Had Aura on my last house for seven years, barely faded. Cheaper paint needed touching up after three.
Worth the extra cost when you’re paying someone to paint or spending your own weekends on ladders.
Safe Choices That Work
White Dove – The default for a reason. Warm enough to not look sterile, clean enough to not look cream. Works on basically everything.
Hale Navy – If you want bold but classic. Deep navy that looks expensive. Needs white trim to really pop.
Revere Pewter – Gray-beige that adapts to any neighborhood. Nobody will hate it. You won’t regret it.
More Adventurous Options
Kendall Charcoal – Dark and dramatic. Looks incredible on modern homes. Gets hot in summer though.
Sage green shades – Trending but with staying power. Connects house to landscape.
What I’d Avoid
Pure white exterior – harsh and shows every flaw. Trendy colors you might tire of. Anything too dark if you live somewhere hot.
Testing Is Mandatory
Buy the sample pots. Paint big test patches. Look at them in morning light, noon sun, evening shadow.
Colors look completely different on a house than on a chip. My bruise-colored mistake taught me that.
